The Temple Guard Unit of El Bekal has a new format for it's meetings this year. Under the leadership of President Mark Braconi, the guard normal meetings are on the second Monday of each month at the Shrine Center, but on some occasions the guard will hold their meetings at or near a blue lodge when a 3rd degree is being conferred and will present the new Master Mason with a plaque, and introduce him to the temple guard Unit. Our February meeting was held at the Upland lodge, and seven members attended the third degree. Here are a couple of pictures from the event:

You probably recognize us more from the cars we drive in the parade.  Here's a picture of a few Guardsmen in their Parade Uniforms:

The Temple Guard is an active Unit with about 20 members, including the most past-potentates of any unit in El Bekal! If you are interested in becoming a member of the Temple guard, contact Mark Braconi at m77j77b77@aol.com.

2010 LaHabra Parade

Five Temple Guardsmen participated in the LaHabra Parade on August 7 - Tom Burnett, Dale Clossen, Don Sorsabal, Gerry Shepley, and Dave Suehs.  The riders even managed to do a formation pass at the judges stand - sure hope someone took a picture of that.  Dave had some trouble with his brakes, but managed to finish the parade with the help of a rather large hammer he borrowed from the Director's Staff.  Here's a few pictures of the guys:

2010 Strawberry Festival Parade

Seven Temple Guardsmen participated in the Garden Grove Strawberry Festival Parade on May 29.  It was a nice warm day, and the Parade start was delayed for about an hour (for us) as we were quite far back in the queue.  So it was a thirsty bunch of riders who descended on the Tailgate Party that Guardsman Russ Albright set up for us in the parking lot of the Garden Grove Masonic lodge.  Here's a couple pictures of 6 of the Guardsmen who rode in the parade:

Joe Ryan, Walker Jenkins, Dave Suehs, Marc Braconi, Randy Avery, and Gerry Shepley.  Tom Burnett took the picture, and it was about the only good thing he did all day - as he had trouble coaxing his car to the finish line, but he did make it!
